About Rob
Welcome to my website. I am a vastly experienced self employed Driving Standards Agency (DSA) Approved Driving
Instructor and DSA Fleet Registered Trainer and am the owner of two businesses Road Survival and Teach 2 Drive.
Road Survival is a driver training company which mainly provides defensive driver training and advanced driving test
preparation to company vehicle users and the private motorist wishing to develop their driving skills. Teach 2 Drive is
a driving instructor training business which  prepares people for the ADI part 1, 2 and 3 instructor qualifying
examinations.

My driver training career began in 1984 with BSM before setting up my own driving school. I spent my early years
teaching learner drivers then after a few years and whilst operating a franchise with BSM I began to do some in
branch instructor training helping to prepare our trainee instructors for their ADI part 2 and 3 qualifying examinations
and have continued to do so over the years with considerable success including working full time for one of the UK’s
largest driving instructor training colleges.

In the early 1990’s I got involved in advanced driver training and have worked as a fleet trainer for some of the main
fleet  training companies on a freelance basis. Apart from fleet training, I have also worked as an instructor on
National Driver Improvement Schemes for a couple of councils. NDIS is a defensive driving course for drivers who
have the prospect of getting points put on their driving licence for driving offences such as driving without due care
and attention. By attending such a course, they can keep the points off their driving licence.

I have in recent years gained experience in working in the Middle East where I have worked as a defensive driver
trainer in Qatar, Oman and the Kurdistan region of Iraq. In Qatar I delivered power point presentations and on road
defensive driver training in a variety of vehicles from cars to buses. In Oman, I worked as a Petrol Development Oman
(PDO) driver assessor / trainer where I worked in a team assessing drivers working on PDO projects. Whilst in
Oman, I also trained a few of the Omani driving instructors to deliver advanced driving courses. In Kurdistan, I trained
a Kurdish  driving instructor to deliver defensive driver training and off road training. I also helped with producing a
powerpoint presentation and putting together a driver's handbook. I have also recently worked in Guinea, West Africa
where I did 4x4 off road training on local project site drivers and ex pat site workers.

In the past, I have also worked as a bus and coach driver in the UK and hold a full manual PCV (category D) licence
and have used my experiences in delivering driver training in such vehicles preparing clients for the PCV driving test.
